About the Zenkoji Temple Gokaicho Supporters Association

The Zenkoji Temple Gokaicho Supporters Association is an organization that supports the Zenkoji Temple's main image unveiling in 2027, working to ensure its smooth operation and contribute to the development of the local community.

Purpose of the Supporters' Association

The Zenkoji Temple Gokaicho Supporters Association aims to support the Zenkoji Temple's Maedachi Honzon Gokaicho (public unveiling of the main image of Buddha), which will be held from April 4 to June 19, 2027, and to ensure its smooth operation.

Main role

The Supporters' Association will work to address various issues related to tourism, commerce, and transportation, including nationwide public relations and visitor attraction activities, in preparation for the Zenkoji Temple's Gokaicho (grand opening of the temple's main image), which takes place once every seven years according to the traditional Japanese age counting system.
Furthermore, it will strive to revitalize the local economy and promote regional development on a broader scale, including neighboring municipalities, using the Gokaicho as an opportunity.
